| Post subject: H.S. Anderson guitar info needed |
|
|
Hi everyone, new kid in the neighborhood here. I got directed here as a way to find out some info. I was told if anyone knows, someone here will. I recently aquired a beaten and tortured Moderne copy. The guitar apparently had at one time a large pickguard with the electronics loaded in it. Painted a horrible color pink and with so many holes in it from numerous amatuer attempts to dress it up. After stripping it down I discovered a great shell inlay on the open book headstock H.S. Anderson, a solid mahogony body with a set mahogony neck. Neck set angle is like a Gibson and it is a very well made guitar. It will get all Gibson Gold parts. Since I cannot find a one piece veneer in mahogony to try to bring it back to original it will have a redwood burl top added. Does anyone here have any info on this company or this guitar?
The one thing I found on a 4 day web search was a tele copy with the same name on the headstock in decal form and the guitar name of Madcat. They think the guitar was made in Japan in the 70's and may have come out of what is now the Cort factory.
A free vintage 1950's mosaic guitar pick for the person with reliable info. I mean what the heck, knowledge needs to be rewarded.
Thanks in advance

Well thanks a lot, and fast. email me your info if you want a mosaic. And what search engine did you use or did you know the sites? Interesting, now i have three logos for the company. Wonder it that realtes to year or just the models. Mine has HS and then underneath that long way is the Anderson.
Thanks again _________________ "Cream was really a jazz band.........we just never told Eric"

Don't worry about the mosaic unless it is green like my wife's Magnatone lap steel.
I use google as a search engine and try different varieties of advanced searches.
Good luck with the restoration. I would love to have a Moderne too. _________________ Resonator Guy

I'm now looking for a Ibanez Moderne. Actually from where you sent me I found 2 catalog pages and 2 pictures of basses and a reference to a SG copy.
Cant justify the money for the vintage catalog site. Do you belong? Just wondering what size the pictures are. I'll have to go back and read the terms.
I'm sure I can sort a few picks and find some with green in them and now or later your welcome to them. You helped where George Gruhn couldnt....and thats up there bud.

Hello itieu,
The HS Anderson guitar you have was made by Moridaira in Japan during the end of the '70s. In some places these same guitars were sold under the Hohner brand.
Here's a page from their catalog that shows the Moderne copy and also the Mad Cat, which was made famous by Prince.
Hope this information helps.
Sincerely,
Hans Moust
